Paul McIntosh 2007
Late fall Borealis dance in pink and green
a portent of the heavens' winter gown
sequin falling stars are leaving trails glowing white
a shifting wondrous light above her crown
that same sky wielded summer's most relentless rains
that hammered all my barley to the ground
A fickle maid whose dress is glory on this perfect night as
She dances to a tune without a sound
Prairie sky, you thrill me tonight
You try to win my heart again
But prairie sky, I know you're wild
And I've only got one life to live
Prairie sky
Each new season brings this dance I have with her
In spring we waltz the comfort of her sun
Summer brings the doubt she hides in skirts of thunder gray
and turns away from me as if to run
Prairie sky, you thrill me tonight
You try to win my heart again
But prairie sky, I know you're wild
And I've only got one life to live
Prairie sky
She's aglow again in diamonds
Desire clothes her face
Maybe when she turns
I will be gone without a trace
