Paul McIntosh 2007
Hide and seek at Grandma's house , a closet up the stairs
I dusted off an old black case and pulled it out of there
Grandma found me lookin and a tear came to her eye she said
Your Daddy took some lessons once maybe you should try
I grew up with my Daddy's Gibson it was with me every day
I sang all of my young boy dreams and it helped me find my way
I played it when I found a love I thought would never end
and one time at a funeral for a wild young high school friend
This old guitar beats with my heart its felt the love I won and lost
And even though the time begins to fade that pretty sunburst top
It still feels so fine to play this old guitar of mine
I sing about the women and I sing about the land
Simple songs about the stuff you have to learn first hand
Sometimes I sing about a boy whose Daddy died too young
I swear the guitar cry's for me when I come undone
This old guitar beats with my heart it feels the love I've won and lost
And even though the time begins to fade that pretty sunburst top
It still feels so fine to play this old guitar of mine
Its heard me whisper, heard me yell, it helps me when there's truth to tell
I just never had a better friend
